ABATE delivered our newsletter Monday Sep. 30th and took the opportunity to discuss Rider ED, Distracted driving and Lane splitting in SC with Trey Byars. He informed us that the Senate will be holding a committee meeting this fall on distracted driving and would like our participation. The time and place has yet been determined. Our monthly deliveries have now become expected and we fielded multiple questions as to why we did not make the August delivery.
We have two important events taking place on the 6th and 7th. Our helmet Law support rally is this Sunday. We will meet starting at 11:00 AM at the Burger King on Airport Blvd. Then have an escorted ride to the state house for an Old School rally.
We will be having our first meeting Monday Oct 7 at 9:00 AM at the ABATE office to discuss lane splitting & filtering in SC. Honorable Representative Chip Huggins will be in attendance along with staff members from the House Education and Public Works. Here is the agenda for Monday’s meeting;
Opening: Sign in attendance sheet and Pledge of Allegiance.

Lane Filtering – Ride to Live Utah
Lane filtering: Unlike lane “splitting,” lane “filtering” is intended to provide a “safety pocket” for motorcycles when encountering stopped traffic. Motorcyclists may only engage in lane filtering if ALL the following criteria are met: Must be operating a motorcycle; Traveling on a roadway with two or more lanes in the same direction
