S.C. lawmakers may adjust the scheduled start of their legislative session Tuesday.

Monday’s snow and ice storm will still be affecting roads Tuesday, making it difficult for some legislators to get to Columbia,

Senate Republican Caucus spokesman Wesley Donehue said the Senate plans to meet at noon, likely with a small group of senators, and then recess until the afternoon to give time for roads to improve and more senators to arrive. According to the state Constitution the Senate must meet and elect officers the second Tuesday in January, Donehue said.

The House had not decided what it would do Tuesday, said Greg Foster, spokesman for House Speaker Bobby Harrell, R-Charleston.

Forecasts call for freezing rain and ice into early Tuesday morning.
